A trip to Bunkulung

 Last time we talked about Samthar, this time we shall be talking about another offbeat place Bunkulung. LOCATION: Bunkulung is located at the norther realms of the West Bengal,India. It is in the mountain regions of the state. The nearest station is New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP). It takes 2hrs from the station to cover 48 kms and reach the destination.  It is located very close to the Mirik, a popular Tourist spots of North Bengal. WAYS TO REACH: Bunkulung can be reached by road only. One can reach the closest town of the plains either by taking trains facilitated to reach NJP station. Even one can reach the nearest airport Bagdogra by flights. The only option available from here is through road. Numerous road routes can be used through the Sukna forest or the Sevoke road.  TOURIST SPOTS: Bunkulung is an offbeat spot. So one should not expect conventional Tourist spots here. An offbeat place-Samthar

 North Bengal is famous for it beautiful places among the people of the rest of the state as well as the country. But, over due course of time only a few places have actually got recognition and there are many offbeat places which are beautiful too. Today we will explore North Bengal beyond Darjeeling. The beautiful place I had been talking of is none other than Samthar.  Location: Samthar is located in  the district of Kalimpong( Pincode- 734031)of West Bengal, India. The place is only 60 kms from Siliguri.  How to reach Samthar: Samthar can be reached only through the road route. If one starts from Kolkata, one can take the trains which halt at New Jalpaiguri Station(Njp) such as - Darjeeling Mail, Superfast etc. One can then book a car according to one's own choices and can reach Samthar with two hours.  Where to stay: There are many homestays in Samthar.
